Tom Mahony joined ONE Lab during the Fall of 2012 as a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering. He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of New Mexico. During his time as an undergraduate, he worked as an intern at Sandia National Laboratories, where he built a microscope for stimulated emission depletion microscopy (STED), worked on a time domain spectroscopy (TDS) system for characterizing metamaterials in the long infrared, and created plasmonic nano-antennas for the visible spectrum.

Current Research: Design of nanophotonic structures to enhance light-matter interactions, with applications for organic and quantum dot lasers
Subgroup: Excitonics

Personal Interests: Running, hiking, climbing, yoga, photography
